Disability Inclusion
The Victorian Government has launched Disability Inclusion, a new world leading reform package for children with disability in Victorian government schools. During the transition into Disability Inclusion (DI) updates will be shared with families as needed, processes may change under the new reform, the eligibility criteria for enrolment will remain the same for Jacana School for Autism under DI, the application process is now referred to as a specialist school verification (SSV).
ENROLMENT REQUIREMENTS

· A signed report from a pediatrician/child psychiatrist containing a diagnosis of ASD
· A signed report from a psychologist containing an ASD assessment and diagnosis · A signed report from a speech pathologist, containing a language assessment (not more than 12 months old) and a statement about the consistency of the student’s language profile in relation to the diagnosis of ASD |
| Significant deficits in adaptive behaviour established by a composite score of two standard deviations or more below the mean on an approved standardised test of adaptive behaviour, AND | · A signed report from a psychologist containing a current (not more than 12 months old) Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scales assessment (Teacher Comprehensive Form) |
| Significant deficits in language skills established by a comprehensive speech pathology assessment demonstrating language skills equivalent to a composite score of two standard deviations below the mean. | · A signed report from a speech pathologist, containing a language assessment (not more than 12 months old) and a statement about the consistency of the student’s language profile in relation to the diagnosis of ASD. |

The school is at full capacity across all Sub Schools. Should a place by year level become available, those already on the waitlist will be considered. At times, part-time placements may become available, and these will be offered to students at mainstream schools.
At present our prospective enrolment list has many students on it and less than a handful of positions become available each year due to student relocation or integration into mainstream settings.

Requests for Interpreters to Support Enrolments
If you require an interpreter to support you during the school tours, prep orientation, meetings or to translate the policies and information on this website for the purpose of enrolment, please contact the school office via phone on 9309 6258.
State the day, time and purpose of the booking, along with the language required and the office will make a booking for you. The interpreter will meet you at the school office at the designated time of the booking. If you specifically require a female or male interpreter, the request can be made at the time of booking however your request is dependent on availability of interpreters at the time.
